Case Studies: Landes Residence southborough landscape construction and design project
For this project we went through a very detailed landscape design process. The design encompasses a big yard with many features. We created large patios and walkways with Boston city hall bricks. A pond with a waterfall and bridge by the pool area creates a beautiful oasis where you can sit and hear the water flowing. The plantings drape over the stonework. The outdoor hot tub is planted with masses of spring flowering azaleas and summer flowering hydrangea. The front foundation is planted with flowering rhododendrons and azaleas and beautiful flowering cherry and dogwood trees. There are boxwood hedges to create a formal feel. Annuals are planted in spring to have flower color all season. On the side of the property there is a small shade garden with a curved fieldstone patio and a bench creating a restful oasis. It is surrounded by ferns, hostas, astilbes and impatiens. Groundcover perennials are planted in between the stones in the patio. Wrapping around the side of the property there is a formal garden surrounded by boxwood hedges. Roses, peonies and mixed perennials fill the beds inside the hedge. There are climbing clematis on trellis and benches to sit and enjoy the beauty and scent. In the center is a large fountain, once again incorporating the restful sound of running water. The back of the house has large patios enclosed with fieldstone walls. A pergola covered with flowering wisteria shades the outdoor eating area. Cast iron planters filled with annuals sit all along the stonewall. The view looks out over a large backyard with fruit trees and a vegetable garden. The property has been featured in many garden tours. It is truly spectacular.
